Homerow
Competitive typing for keyboard-serious learners
What It Is
Homerow is a seasonal competitive typing league — a ranked, structured competition for students who want to build real keyboard fluency while competing against each other. Time trials. Ranked ladders. End-of-season placement. Low stakes, high motivation.
Typing well is critical. Developers, writers, and knowledge workers who type fluently think faster on the keyboard, spend less mental energy on mechanics, and stay in flow longer. We want students to build that fluency before they've spent years reinforcing bad habits.
How It Works
Seasons
Homerow runs in seasons — a set period where participants compete, earn their placement, and then reset for the next season. Seasons are designed to be short enough to stay exciting and long enough to actually improve.
You can join at the start of any season. Miss one? There's always another.
Time Trials
Regular time trials set the competitive rhythm. Standardized passages, measured speed and accuracy, posted results. Everyone competes on the same content in the same window.
Trials are frequent enough to feel like competition, not so frequent they become a chore.
Ranked Ladder
Trial results feed into a ranked ladder. Good performance moves you up; a bad week can drop you down. Placement at the end of the season is what you fought for.
Divisions by age/experience mean you're competing against people at a similar level — newer typists aren't thrown against people who've been at this for years.
Team Format
Optional team play for members who'd rather compete alongside friends than against them. Team scores aggregate individual results, so every trial matters even when you're not near the top of the individual ladder. Think a distance relay, not a solo sprint.
Who Can Participate
Homerow is open to all Bedrock members — no previous experience required, no prerequisite workshops, no skill floor.
If you're a recovering hunt-and-peck typist, you'll compete in a division with other beginners. If you're already fast, you'll face stiffer competition. The ladder finds its own level.
Homerow is independent of the main learning pipeline. You can participate alongside workshops, The Forge, or anything else — it runs on its own schedule and doesn't require or unlock anything else. It's just a good thing to be doing.
Still Taking Shape
We're still working out some of the details. If you want to help design this or just want to be in the first cohort, get in touch — we're open to input.
